Blossom into Spring with Magic Silk

Good morning everyone!

Spring is just around the corner, and we've been busy designing, planning, and preparing for the International Lingerie Show in April. ILS is the lingerie industry's biggest tradeshow and we're really excited about all of the new collections we'll be unveiling in Vegas in April! Cheap Thrills will be unveiling some sexy new year round costume styles. Our new sexy schoolgirl costume collection, School's Out, will also be revealed at our booth. Let's not forget about Male Power - we're going to be unveiling so many great new collections for the men to enjoy including our Extreme Colors collection.

If you're in the NYC area this weekend, stop by the Javits Center on Saturday and Sunday and visit us at the GLBT Expo! We will be pairing up with the Gay City News to promote Male Power and Magic Silk at the event. We're looking forward to it and we hope you stop by and say hi!

We hope you all are enjoying the snow and staying warm if you're in the Northeast! Here at Magic Silk, we are working hard to bring you the hottest looks in sexy lingerie this spring. Our designer, Alison, is working hard on some sexy new costumes for the Cheap Thrills label - we hear they're going to be hot! We're also brewing up some hot new looks for the Exposed collection.

We heard of a fresh new party idea for you all to try: the Lingerie Party. There is a great resource called The Lingerie Party Site and it's chock full of great ways to hold a lingerie party with your girlfriends. Lingerie parties are a fresh alternative to your usual bachelorette party, bridal shower, or birthday party. This website has all the info you need to hold your own lingerie party - it even has tools like the Party Planning Budget Calculator and printable invites. Valentine's Day Weekend Recap

Hi everyone, it's Jessie, Resident PR & Marketing Guru for Magic Silk and Male Power :). Magic Silk had one crazy Valentine's Day weekend, and we're about to share all the details and juicy gossip with you here.

Saturday night: Magic Silk teamed up with NYNE for the Valentine's Networking Bash at BARSOCIAL in Uniondale, NY. Eight models wore our hottest styles from our Cheap Thrills costume collection and our Exposed lingerie collection while they mingled with sexy singles and talked up our product. The models handed out discount cards from Yumdrop.com and Xpressions adult stores based on Long Island with 5 locations throughout Nassau and Suffolk. The bar was packed by 8pm with a mix of college grads and older people looking to meet some sexy singles.

Sunday night, aka Valentine's Day: New York City was hoppin' on this cold Sunday night thanks to UNITE in Fashion's Unite in Passion event at the Maritime Hotel in Chelsea. Magic Silk was pleased to be a part of such a great event, which featured the Long Island Roller Rebels and Sugar Shack Burlesque. All of these great organizations sponsored the event, which raised money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Are you, like many women, the type of girl whose walk-in closet is packed? Do you want to make room for some of our fabulous new lingerie styles, like our new Liquid Onyx and Liquid Ruby styles? Well, now you can get a head start on your spring cleaning and recycle your bras. A wonderful resource is The Bosom Buddy Recycling Program, which donates gently used or unused bras to women in shelters, support groups for breast cancer survivors, and transitional housing facilities. If you live in the Phoenix area, there is a list of locations where you can drop off your bras. If you don't live in the area, you can mail your bras to the address on the website.

You can recycle your bra in four easy steps:

1. Wash it.
2. Tag it.
3. Box it.
4. Drop it off or mail it.

We recommend you check them out! You can get a jump start on your spring cleaning while helping a worthy cause. And that, my friends, would put a spring in your step.

Magic Silk Hits the Runway for Breast Cancer Awareness

This Valentine's Day, Magic Silk will be hitting the runway to raise awareness for breast cancer. The New York-based nonprofit organization UNITE in Fashion will be staging the UNITE in Passion fashion show to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Magic Silk will be donating styles from its new Pink Leopard and Cupid collections for the models to wear on the runway, and 500 silk g-strings to be placed in goody bags given to attendees.

Founded in 2005, UNITE in Fashion promotes awareness of various social issues through fundraising events based on the collaboration of art, music, and fashion. These creative events raise funds for well known nonprofits. During the past five years, UNITE has successfully contributed to causes including breast cancer awareness and research, health care reform, and natural disaster reconstruction efforts.

The fashion show will be held on Sunday, February 14th at 7PM at the Maritime Hotel in NYC. Admission is a $10 minimum donation per person and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Entertainment will be provided by the lovely ladies at Sugar Shack Burlesque and the Long Island Roller Rebels, and there will be sexy giveaways and of course, candy and chocolate.

Measuring Up: Finding YOUR Right Bra Size

Welcome to Lingerie 101 by Exposed by Magic Silk! Our design guru, Alison, will be giving you advice on finding the right fit and styles, and helping you learn to love lingerie!

Did you know that approximately 80 percent of women are wearing the wrong bra size? Chances are, you are wearing the wrong bra size as you’re reading this blog! You may be wondering why so many women are not wearing bras that fit. Your body changes frequently from year to year, due to weight gain or loss, exercise, pregnancy, and other factors. It’s very likely that a bra that fit well last year probably doesn’t fit as well this year. Here at Magic Silk, we believe that you should know the signs that you aren’t wearing the right size, so you can learn how to find your right fit and look your hottest!

Here are some ways you can tell that your bra is not the right size:

1. If your breasts spill over the top or sides of your bra, increase the band and/or cup size.

2. If cups wrinkle or pucker, choose a smaller size.

3. A bra should fit snugly. If it rides up in the back, trade it in for one with a tighter band.

4. The underwire should lie flat against your rib cage. If there’s a gap, your cups are not getting enough support and you need to try a larger cup size.

5. If the straps dig into your flesh, try a style with wider straps or a different cup size.

Calculating your bra size is very simple and only takes a few minutes! To find your band size, measure around the rib cage, just below your breasts. Then add 4 inches if the measurement is even and 5 if the measurement is odd. To find your cup size, measure around the fullest part of the breasts. Deduct the rib-cage measurement from this figure. A 1-inch difference between the measurements equals an A cup, 2 inches a B, 3 inches a C cup, 4 inches a D cup, and so on. Need some help with calculating your measurements? There are some great bra size calculators on the Internet, but we’re partial to this one: http://www.85b.org/bra_calc.php. This bra calculator calculates your bra size according to your own measurements and it tells you what size you would be wearing according to other countries’ measuring systems.
